Our House

Bob and I bought this house in the nice little city of Port Richey three years ago. It's a lovely 30 year old house just big enough for the two of us and our 4 cats (and perhaps a dog in the future) and company to come visit us and actually have a bedroom to call their own. Of course, everyone who lives here expects company any time during the year but especially the winter months. We have learned about home ownership in the south (large red ants are carpenter ants- and we've killed about 5 queens so I guess there were a few living here previously). Sprinkler systems do not do well when lawnmowers run over the sprinkler heads (good thing we have a friend who repairs for free). Carpets that are 30 years old are actually made of real material and do come clean with just a few shampoos (the newer ones are harder to clean because they're made of synthetics like old cans, etc. and stains really set themselves in, but laminate flooring is the best). Shower heads on 30 year old pipes do not remove easily so they just snap off leaving a steady stream of water until a plumber gets here to replace the pipes. When a previous owner blocks a door with boxes, etc. that is not necessarily used often and gives the frame a beautiful paint job you might find out that they were blocking where the termites were opening the door for the carpenter ants.
